Finance Management

Manage and work on the company's financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis (P&L, B/S, CF, A/R, A/P)

Develop and maintain financial models to support business decisions and growth initiatives.

Develop and implement financial and administrative policies and procedures (i.e. applicable accounting policies, etc.).

Manage day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger and manage the 3rd party accounting and payroll service provider. We work with an accounting and tax firm and a payroll service provider in Tokyo and Singapore, so a lot of the bookkeeping, tax and social security will be done by them and with them.

Manage and work with tax and audit providers.

Funding and Treasury Management

Cash management to ensure the company has adequate liquidity to meet its operational and strategic needs.

Support and manage the funding round process with the CEO and other leadership members, including equity rounds, debt funding, subsidies, government funding, etc.

Application for subsidies, potentially finding and working with supporting service providers.

Reporting and Documentation

Create and maintain the company’s KPI reports and annual reports, reporting and presentations for shareholder and board meetings, and present financial and operational data to board members.

Governance Support

Champion and administer Corporate Governance.

Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Administration & Continous Improvement

Implement processes and tools/systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement within the administrative process to reduce administrative burden while meeting governance and reporting requirements.

Manage relationships with external vendors and partners around finance and administration, including banking institutions, auditors, and legal counsel.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with other department heads to ensure cross-functional alignment and achieve our organisational goals.

Freedom and responsibility

As a member of an early startup team, you will have a lot of say in how things will be done and even who to do this with. You will work closely with our founder to understand and translate the vision into a full product and great end-user experience.

This role comes with a lot of freedom in terms of how you do things; ultimately, the goal is to provide an amazing product experience for the end-users. As a small team, we are not looking to micro-manage and control every task, nor do we have extensive policies and guidelines to police. We are endorsing freedom and autonomy but with responsibility and collaboration.

International environment

Although the first year of development and launch will be based in Japan and focus on the Japanese market, the company intends to go global fast. Moreover, our founder and the founding team are pretty international in their background from all around the world. For this reason, we are looking to hire an international team. Much communication will happen in Japanese, but the company’s first language is English.

Despite this, as the original release of this product will happen in Tokyo and Japan for Japanese users, you will be working with and for Japanese end-users to begin with.

Team and method

YYou will be working with our founder and functional leads as main counterparts. We will have an office in Tokyo and work in a hybrid-environment with the option to work some days from home. How you divide your time will be much of your responsibility as the situation requires.

We aim to work in a low-overhead agile environment with high collaboration and communication.
